While creating a mod_plsql web application I ran into a problem using the check sum returned by owa_opt_lock.checksum. Time to ask Tom, the author of the package. As usual, he did not disappoint me. Read it here.

Shipping Interfaces and Documents
For the 11i upgrade project I have written all the interfaces and customer facing documents used in the shipping process. Documents include Packslip, Commercial Invoice (dynamically generated in multiple languages, using Oracle Reports and pl/sql), and multiple Shipping labels (printed on a zebra printer using my ZPL interface). The type of shipping label printed at ship confirm is based on setup (Default/Transaction Type/Customer). We use third party software (chainware) to handle transport, we interface our data using mq-series.
